Shakespeare in the Parque is a new theatre group created to explore the cultural and social world of the works of William Shakespeare, as well as other Classical plays through performance with a new eye to the text itself.

Notable Quote:  "You need Shakespeare and Chekhov every 15 minutes of your life because every 15 minutes of our lives we forget we're human beings.  Shakespeare and Chekhov grab you by the lapels and say" 'You Idiot!  You're living! Living your life!'  We need that every 15 minutes." Brian  Kulick, artistic director of Classic Stage Company,
quoted by Julie Salamon, NYTimes, 2-5-04

Our mission is concerned with keeping these works accessible to Washington DC area audiences. To this end, we provide free, quality, public performances, and are committed to developing educational programs, workshops and other venues in which children and adults can explore Classical theatre, issues raised by the plays, and their relevance for today's world.
